Jennifer Lambert’s bookkeeping career started back in 2010 when she got her proverbial “feet wet” working for an accounting firm in St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba. Over the first five years, Jennifer quickly moved up in the company, after learning the necessary skills & duties to oversee numerous staff members, training new employees, and working closely with her manager. During this time, Jennifer also got married and had two more children. While on maternity leave, the idea of self-employment and being her own boss became appealing; that’s when JKL Bookkeeping Services was born!

What started in Jennifer’s small home office in the fall of 2016 quickly grew into the largest basement bedroom in the home with additional administrative staff. By 2019, it became apparent that the business had grown out of the house and it was time to take the next step to an official office space.

JKL Bookkeeping & Tax Inc. is owned jointly by Jennifer & Real Lambert. While running the business, Jennifer also uses her skills as a Certified Professional Bookkeeper as well as a Quickbooks Online Advanced Proadvisor.

Mackenzie is a Junior Accounting Technician at JKL Bookkeeping & Tax Inc. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies, majoring in Issues in Sustainability, as well as graduating from Red River College with a Certificate (with Honours) in Applied Accounting. Add on to those skills a QuickBooks Pro-Advisor Certification. 

After Mackenzie completed her initial post-secondary degree, she had the opportunity to move to California for a few years to spend time training horses. Eventually, she moved back to Manitoba to go back to school at Red River College to study accounting. She feels fortunate to have found work at JKL right after graduation! 

Outside of the office, Mackenzie enjoys spending time riding her horse and growing her little farm.

Rita has the Quickbooks Online Certification and is first aid certified as well as mental health certified via the EnBoom program.

She worked for CRA in pay & benefits for 11 years before deciding she wanted out of the chaos that is the government. Shortly after, she became a Gramma, and is now fortunate to spend as much time as possible with three amazing grandsons.

After a while, Rita’s break from the working world grew boring and she was ready to dive back in. She enrolled in the EnBoom program for people over 50 and found a part-time position with JKL. She still has time for the grandkids but also gets a bit of “me” time coming to work, which doesn’t really feel like work most days.

Jacquie has a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major of Psychology. This past summer, she started working at JKL while she finished her university degree and took an interest in administrative work & bookkeeping. She’s currently doing a bookkeeping course while continuing her duties at JKL and is excited to see where this step takes her in her career.

In her spare time, Jacquie enjoys reading and being outside with her cats & dog.
